Ingress Protection Testing
NABL-accredited and BIS-recognized IP testing.
We are an Ingress Protection (IP) testing laboratory in Bangalore, India. THE ELENERGYLAB IP testing laboratory is designed to assess products in strict accordance with a comprehensive range of national and international standards. The Ingress Protection (IP) rating is a critical classification according to the International standard IEC65029. The IP rating consists of two digits, each with a specific meaning. The rating indicates the degree of protection an electrical enclosure provides against the intrusion of foreign objects (like dust and tools) and moisture (water). Our facility is equipped with advanced instrumentation and staffed by expert engineers and technicians committed to upholding the highest levels of accuracy, reliability, and compliance in IP testing.

Our Main IP Testing Services
We offer certified ingress protection testing across the full IP1X to IP6X spectrum to evaluate how effectively your enclosures shield against solid foreign objects and fine particulate matter. From physical debris down to microscopic dust, our precise evaluations ensure your sensitive internal electrical components remain completely safe, protected, and operational in harsh field environments. Our testing strictly adheres to key Indian and international standards, including IS/IEC 60529:2001, IS 13779:2020, IS 14697:2021, IS 15884:2010, IS 16444 (Part 1:2015 & Part 2:2017), IEC 62052-11:2020, and the IEC 62053 series (21/22/23/24:2020)
We actively stress-test your electronic enclosures inside advanced, calibrated moisture chambers to pinpoint any structural vulnerability before it reaches the field. Our engineering team precisely controls water pressure, flow rates, impact angles, and submersion depths to replicate everything from a humid drizzle to a flash flood.
Using high-velocity oscillating spray tubes, targeted pressure nozzles, and specialized deep-immersion tanks, we conduct comprehensive water protection testing up to IPX8 rating following standards such as IS/IEC 60529 (total submersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes). Throughout the test cycle, we don't just look for leaks, we run real-time diagnostic checks to ensure your internal seals, gaskets, and joints completely block moisture bypass, keeping your high-voltage electronics bone-dry and fully grid-compliant.
ELENERGYLAB possesses the full advanced testing infrastructure required to certify your products across the entire global ingress protection spectrum, all the way up to IP68. This absolute level of certification guarantees that your equipment achieves the highest possible commercial defense against both solid debris and liquid ingress.
- Maximum Solid Protection (IP6X): Complete vacuum-tested airtight seal against microscopic dust, sand and particulate meters.
- Maximum Liquid Protection (IPX8): Certified survival during long-term, continuous underwater submersion at specified depths and high pressures.
Whether you are launching rugged smart meters, outdoor distribution kiosks, or industrial-grade electronics, our IP68 testing services provide the definitive validation your brand needs to prove ultimate field survivability and complete environmental resilience.

FAQs
The two digits represent completely different types of environmental defense:
The First Digit (0 to 6): Measures protection against solid objects and dust. A "6" means the device is completely dust-tight.
The Second Digit (0 to 9K): Measures protection against liquids (water). An "8" means it can survive being continuously submerged underwater.
The main difference is the severity of the water exposure:
IP65: Your product can withstand direct, low-pressure water streams (like heavy rain or a garden hose spray).
IP67: Your product can survive being accidentally dropped into water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes.
IP68: This is maximum protection. Your product is certified to stay continuously underwater at specific depths and pressures defined by the manufacturer.
Any business manufacturing hardware meant for challenging environments needs this. At ELENERGYLAB, we primarily conduct IP testing for smart energy meters, outdoor distribution kiosks, solar power components, automotive electronics, and rugged industrial enclosures.
We test strictly in accordance with major global and national benchmarks. For enclosures and smart utility equipment, our procedures align perfectly with IEC 60529 (the global standard for ingress protection ratings) and IS 13947 / IS 13779 for utility devices.
